With all the rumours floating
around, we want to answer one question once and for all here at the Ideal Wine
Company; is red wine good for you?
Welcome to the Ideal Wine Company
At the Ideal Wine Company we
bring you some of the finest quality luxury vintages for prices that won’t
break your bank balance. As such, we inherently understand that for the veteran
wine drinker, it’s not just a passion; it’s a lifestyle.
In truth, for many people, red
wine is an integral part of their lifestyle; it’s quite normal to have the odd
glass with lunch, or dinner, or relax by the fire with a nice bottle of red on
a cold winter’s night. Many people do so in the belief that red wine is good
for us.
Red Wine: Bad for the Unborn!
Lately, however, the news columns
have been full of theories, hypothesises and guess work over the reality of the
situation; some experts are pointing out that red wine is full of resveratrol,
a type of anti-oxidant, which makes it especially good for you.
Others are refuting this claim,
one such example that made the Daily
Mail last week, was that the ‘healthy’ part of red wine damaged unborn
babies; obviously though, you probably shouldn’t be indulging in a glass when
you’re expecting anyway.
Red Wine Helps Prevent Heart Attacks
So what’s the truth in all this?
Well an article from the Telegraph
shed some light this week on just what anti-oxidants can do for you; they can
prevent heart attacks!
It’s true. According to the
article, the antioxidants such as the aforementioned resveratrol, flavonoids
and polyphenols that are traditionally found in the skin of red grapes,
especially when they’re grown at really high altitudes, have been shown to
prevent damage inside of blood vessels, as well as inhibit blood clotting cells
(platelets), meaning clots are less likely to form.
Which Red Wines Should You Be Drinking?
So, it’s been proven that in some
cases there really are health benefit to a glass a day of red wine (again!).
Which wines should you be drinking? According to the article, antioxidants are
highest in Chilean Cabernet
Sauvignon; a Chilean red produced at high altitudes. However antioxidants are
also fairly present in other red wines, including pinot noir and petite Syrah (Shiraz)
grapes.
Several
of these types of red wines can be found on the Ideal
Wine Company product list, and if you
want to buy a quality luxury wine, with health benefits, at a reasonable price,
you should check it out today.
